observations of life

doors do not open easily

    nor do they close effortlessly

we are

          all of us

stuck in the middle

of a somewhat tongue-tied life

on occasion filled to the brim with love

that is, of course

till we run out of sugar

and the cup cracks

or the handle does anyway

and we are left

with only a fleeting glimpse

of what might have been

just a little bit to the left of happy

after all

only the conifer is ever-green

and change is constant

perhaps that is a good thing

Loved this one, Lydi....so true to life. your observations always bring some clarity to mine. "on occasion filled to the brim with love that is, of course
till we run out of sugar" your metaphors are to die for, my friend. so apt! Absolutely fantastic write here...another favorite.

Change is what pushes us along this continuum called life whether we like it or not. The key is to keep looking for those sugar crystals no matter how scattered, no matter how small. A very wise and insightful poem Lydi.

There is always a bit of sweetness if we search for it, absolutely. Thanks, Blue. I appreciate you.. read more
You're waxing philosophical in this one, Lydi. Thoughts to be pondered upon and learned from. Nice job.

I loved that painting too...etsy.com had it. Thanks for the review, Pryde. Lydi**
Haha I knew that was Blondie before I even saw the caption ;P

Clowns to the rest of us, jokers to the right...I know just what you mean when you say we're stuck in the middle of a tongue-tied life. So much of what comes out of human mouths is lip service, and every declaration of trust, even in those who are close to us, feels like a leap of faith, at least it does to cynical old me haha Constant change is a necessary facet of life, but it's also one of the toughest facets of life to accept. I love the ideas and philosophies you've put forth in this one...well-said and well-written my friend :)

Haha Yep, that's who it is ;) Always a pleasure :)
beautiful! i love the way this flows like water in its form and rhythm, very much like life does in its constant change, yet always remaining the same in essence, like any spot of water from a river. Vey well captured and reflective :D xxx

This is the truth ,you are welcome my dear lydi:)
We all have choices to make, we all stand in that alley with a decision...do we go this way or that way. And regardless of the direction we take we find that what ever we encounter is still subject to change...do we change with it? That remains to be seen. Very nicely done my friend. Must be the time of year, I have read a few today on a subject similar to this.
