perhaps

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

observations of life

"

doors do not open easily

    nor do they close effortlessly

we are

          all of us

stuck in the middle

of a somewhat tongue-tied life

on occasion filled to the brim with love

that is, of course

till we run out of sugar

and the cup cracks

or the handle does anyway

and we are left

with only a fleeting glimpse

of what might have been

just a little bit to the left of happy

after all

only the conifer is ever-green

and change is constant

perhaps that is a good thing

Thanks, Thomas. Lydi**
"Perhaps that is a good thing." This final line sums it all up for me. Change is a progression towards the better parts of our lives.

I couldn't imagine a life without change lieverd... ah this write speaks to me. I like the things, around me that keep me in "reality" may they be nice or not. I think in the end it's a good thing, you provoke great thoughts here, we all have to exept "life" in the end how it is... and have sometimes to count till ten, relax, and accept, and have more patience. I liked this peace a lot! Inspiring. Oh and you're very missed ;)

Every day life if we sit down and think about it, is full of your wonderful metaphors but we can't put it in to words the way you can.

Thank you Lydia x

Makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. Change is good but at what cost? Excellent piece, I loved the lines about the cup. I sometimes feel cracked and leaking or that someone some where forget to put in the sugar! :)

Nothing lasts forever, nor are there any free lunches handed out so make the best of your blessings and get on with it !

An intriguing, cerebral poetic piece of rational writing, tremendous Lydia !
