Lapse

Lapse

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Even a ho-hum day can inspire!

My last breath of sleep

morphs into a sluggish morning

then climbs a mountain of responsibility

ever defying gravity

my personal velocity is set at less than brisk

and my alacrity seems to be missing in action

prudently placed steps get me to where I need to be

           acting as an indentured servant

                   to this empty house

which is not a benevolent master

still, I serve my time willingly

facing every banana peel slip up

with a song and a smile

confident it will soon lapse into a poem

Oh I know the exact feeling of waking like this Lydi... our "dreamers-mind" is always there, even though we must do our responsibilities, and it ain't always easy, with souls who pick up so many things during their day ha! ;) But there comes always art out of each and every impression/impulse, so as your art, is the one of a true poetess.... thank you for sharing this one... magnificent!

Drink up, Joie! Thanks for stopping by. Lydi**
dear Lydi... I love taking baby steps...
skipping on sunbeams and colors of a
prism of love and devotion. Your poetry
creates a painting with touches of Monet...
pastel flowers on a lily pond of hope.
truly a butterfly of adventure. Pat

Good Morning sweet friend of mine. Thank you for the lovely review. Lydi**
Wow. This is just amazingly written. The style, the flow and your words are simply beautiful. Your perspective on things creates such beautiful poems even when you are describing the most regular routine. :)

Oh, yes...this is lovely and made me smile, beam actually. Your poetry is truly lovely and I always find hope throughout it Lydi. The whole daily run of life here is superbly flowed and voiced and those mountains can seem huge some days...small steps, I tell myself lol

well Lydi, it might be a mundane day for you, but for us gentle readers of you poetry, it's pure magical, fantasy as only you can write it. and that means you always will find the place you need to be..pen in hand gleeful smile on you lips and that teasingly twinkle in your eyes... hmmm if this poem represents a "sluggish morning", I wonder what some coffee would do... whoa!!! ;0) --redzone

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such a lovely review. lydi**
You seem to translate most of your emotions into poetry and that is a wonderful achievement for a poet, Lydi. Living for writing is such a wonderful way to live. I truly envy you! And the humdrum day you've described in this poem seems like one worth living just because, at the end of it, you've written another terrific poem!
