the salt of unshed tears
has built up behind my facade of smiles
my heartbeats flip flop to remind me
of who I am
and where I was
not all that long ago
it’s dark in the distance
and clouds hover on the horizon
i’ve learned
the shortest distance
between happiness and grief
is the simple turn of the calendar page
I wanted to review this the other day when I saw it but the café was acting up it is very poignant The mirror does not lie and with each page turned on the calendar we see time marches on this is very good Lydia A bit melancholy written so very well

So much wisdom in your words , realizations and resignations...Life is short inevitable things are on the horizon...A wonderful write...:)..............
You have learned through your experience and have crafted a wonderful piece to share the precious treasure.
I can simply congratulate you for the great gesture.
We can always hope for the best.
you have painted a heartfelt picture with your words, I love the opening lines especially, because i can feel the aridness of the salt, like the calcium build up in water pipes, clogging the flow and breaking the facade up to reveal the true feelings, and then the short distance to hope, as time heals all. Really beautiful and meaningful write!

This poem greatly shows an underlying sense of hope and ease, it's easy to forget that all we need is time to go by so we have to be reminded of it constantly. Nicely done.

Thank you so much, Mr. Alednac....nice to see a review from you. Lydi**
You really believe that things get better in time? At least that's what I got out of your last three lines...
An insightful piece, but please make the font bigger, Lydi.

I also think that no one knows what tomorrow holds. Best to enjoy the moments we are given today. Sorry the font was too small for you, Diana. I thought I was the one with old eyes! :) Thanks so much for your review. Lydi**
We will all grow old. That's inevitable. So it is best to enjoy life to the fullest every moment...because we cannot turn back the time anymore and what would be left unto us is REGRET.
Heart touching. You wrote this poem in a beautiful, sensitive manner which made me read it again and again. The shortness (length wise) of the poem complement the last two lines: between happiness and grief
is the simple turn of the calendar page. Well written, Lydia!
