to the sun

to the sun

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

too many rainy days here lately

"

my hand reaches out
beyond the safety of my trusty umbrella
to cup raindrops
the rain will not bother me
not today
     raindrops
plip
                  then
plop

playing my unfinished symphony

as i conduct

muddy puddles become my dance floor

because these old lady feet

are on the winding path to the sun

"because these old lady feet
are on the winding path to the sun"..
there is such rhythm, music and magic in those lines. the images, as always...come at me like High definition 3D effects. Love the atmosphere of the rain...but even more...your feet dancing to the promise of the sun. so lovely, Lydi.

Once again I love the way you end your sentiments, Lydi! You use all your words well, but the endings for me are always what lingers! Which is fantastic because it makes me want to read more! "because these old lady feet....are on the winding path to the sun" is such a great way to finish out what seems like a rainy seen with the sunlight peeking through after. Well done, once again!

It's so easy to get the blues on rainy days - I'm happy to hear your "old lady feet" (somehow I can't picture you as old Lydi) are on the winding path to the sun! Another masterpiece my friend.

The rain can be so refreshing, as how you write about it, to never see it as a bad thing, is out of a soul who is one with nature, and appreciates all things in life as how they just are. I like that...

There is sunshine after always, just beautiful Lydi, I enjoyed this piece... very pure.

An that is the most illustrious path of all. This poem works really well literally for its imagery and metaphorically for it message. Nicely done Lydi.

Take that rain…sounds like someone is going to the beach. Remember me with your pine colada.

Again, I have played in the rain, I have ran toward the Sun. Yet as a youth I rad headlong with direct intention.
I am learning to "wind my way" more and enjoy the casual " play " of life.
A beautiful write and well in twinned with nature's gifts.
