for just that one moment

for just that one moment

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

nothing like an early morning walk on the beach

"

photo copyright:

the sky this morning

was burgundy wine

seagulls debated

over who would catch the plumpest fish

the world was my coffee mug

and the java was spiced with sea air

a wanton page of newsprint

wrapped itself around

an unsuspecting palm trunk

there were no blanks

in the conversation i had with me

gathering a cache of inspiration for later use

i smiled

because for just that one moment

all was right with my world

This is lovely. Short and sweet, with wonderful images. I love the line "the world was my coffee mug". It conjures up those rich warm moments of being perfectly content and happy with everything around you. The perfect day. The perfect morning. I really enjoy how you create that warmth. I also love "there were no blanks...in the conversation I had with me..." that is a lovely way to put being along with your thoughts, and at peace with your own companionship. I really enjoyed this from beginning to end! Well done!

What a fantastic feeling to know that all was right with your world, Lydia. Hopefully that feeling will stay with you for quite sometime. I really enjoyed reading this uplifting poem, in fact I read it twice.

I love those little moments where everything fits into place... little calm moments watching a spider spin and leaves do somersaults... I just wish I had your ability to paint them in words. Great piece. ~Jim

Absolutely! Thanks for reading my words! Lydi**
In the quiet moments of a morning as this, the inspiration that may be tucked within the spirit may indeed be abundant - as you say, "a cache of inspiration for later use". Your descriptions are so beautiful that I too wish I had seen the burgundy wine sky, and heard the seagulls jabbering as they hunted for a tasty morsel!!
Yes, that one perfect moment is that which some may never find because they are perhaps unwilling to seek it. Happy are those who do!! Gosh, now I am now ready for a cup of java - spiced with sea air!!

This is one of your best poems to me. I used to live by the beach so I can relate.

Thank you very much, Tone...nothing as good as a walk along the shoreline to clear the mind. Lydi**
There is such beauty in being inspired by Nature, and acknowledging that for "just that one moment/all was right with the world" for nature gives us the innate feeling of peace and comfort even as the world truly falls apart around us. For just an instance, we seem to touch the hems of Heaven's shirts, through her beautiful sister, Nature. And this peace can be achieved only when we're sensitive to Nature's call and aware of her appeal for she then gifts us with the "cache of inspiration for later use." Lydi, this is a beautiful poem full of imagery and reflection. As always, thank you for sharing such beauty!

LOL... yes, it was skirts, not shirts. I love poetry and Nature, and you do both so perfectly!
I agree that this is indeed one lovely morning with yourself. The images are sweet and serene. I almost hear the waves as they crash on the shore and soak themselves to the sand. Your writing is very inspiring. I love this. :)
