Tomorrow

Tomorrow

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

just another Manic Monday!

"

artwork courtesy of etsy.com

The rainswept street
         now polished with puddles
intrigues me
                   my mind
                                marinated in humidity
watches a butterfly as she kisses
that perfect blossom
                          at my wits’ end
I promise myself
I’ll only rewrite this line of poetry
                                      one more time
unfortunately today is not the day
to pass go or collect $200-
           nope

the Reading Railroad
has canceled the 7:00 train
and the hotels on Boardwalk
are booked for the night
                        so fiddle dee dee
                along with Scarlett
I guess I’ll worry about most everything
                                   tomorrow

Oh yes.. sometimes a situation is only as dire as we perceive it to be. The cancelled train and streets full of polished puddles might not be that bad after all. I'm just like you...I leave all the worrying to tomorrow....never allowing it to ruin my night's sleep. Wonderful poem here, my friend....making those manic mondays a bit more bearable.

"so fiddle dee dee/along with Scarlett" I love that. These sound like Monday verses.

"I'll only rewrite this line of poetry one more time." I don't know about you, but I've said that many times to no avail. Hah.

There is indeed always a tomorrow...but this voices that in elegant form...the beauty of words...we can return to them, like a constant companion :) This unsettles but in the most beautiful ways love x

okay...yes, the Bangels...i think i'll face my monday, walking like an egyptian...thank you very much.

this poem is great in its ironic twists and turns.."my mind marinated in humidity"

wow on that line...the play on words in reference to monopoly...excellent...and then the reference to scarlett ohara..

"after all, tomorrow is another day" she also said "i'll never be poor again" you my friend will never be poor of words...you are always fresh and unique in your writes....

i wish i had that talent to be so versatile.

Sometimes that's the best philosophy, Lydi. Never do today what you can do tomorrow! Enjoyed the Monopoly imagery topped off with a little "Gone With the Wind." Have a great day tomorrow and keep smiling.
