I Sway

I Sway

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

Sing the blues....I will sway to the music

"

I listen to you sing the blues

the words hold me

          a lyrical feel

    a beautiful pain

                    a deliciously bittersweet taste

yes, the words are all on a path

I have not quite traveled

and yet my feet are familiar

                    with the bumpy road

my fingers have thumbed through

every piece of art in the portfolio

and my psyche swears

it remembers

still

from this distance

I listen to you sing the blues

and I'm able to sway to the melody

Oh, I just love this!! The painting you have set the tone with is perfect as I can just hear her singing the words you have penned to the sound of a soulful sax, or a slow playin' piano! Swaying to the melody as one who is familiar to the territory brings your piece so alive!
I love to sing, and I "dabble" here and there but of all the sounds I seem to end up with is "the blues".....gotta just love them as I love your poem!

Everybody must sway to your poetic melodies

There's a quiet intensity here, when we read how disheartened a person is, we put ourselves in their shoes and sway along, a very compassionate write that tells me of your soul Lydi, of which I had no doubt, simply lovely.

Oh yeah! Now you are playing my tune Lydi.
I'm a tenor sax player way back when...
Loved your soft expression and I could feel myself sway to the music of your words as I read the poem.
