little girl dreams

little girl dreams

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

best friends just understand

"

we learned with each wrinkle
acquired skills with each silver hair
sharing golden secrets through the years
                      either whispered
                             or with a smile

                                across a crowded room
        quite satisfying
yet we always knew
try as we might to stop it
time would pass
                          and eventually
we would reap what we sowed
                still we smile
knowing somehow
              our little girl dreams
                       will continue to prevail

I have a best friend that wears that knowing smile, too. We have been through thick and thin since we were 15 years old. There are 3 states separating us and we smile across the miles. She just knows. Thank you for this, Lydi. Ya have me grinning, girl. Angi~

Oh Lydi...this so extraordinarily embodies the joy, the warmth, the comfort, fun and sisterhood that comes from a solid friendship along the rocky road of life. Every line seemed like a scene out of my own life. I could so relate to the 'smile across a crowded room'. :) Yes...best friends never let each others 'little girl' dreams die...they just ever! Such a beautiful tribute to true friendship, my friend. written in true Lydia style :)

Oh, yes, she is very much so....thank goodness! Thanks for stopping by. Lydi*
Lydi, your smile and happiness are evident in this wonderful poem. This is uplifting and joy creating in its feel. Friendship is a wonderful thing and you should consider yourself a lucky person to have someone so close. Not everyone gets to experience this, to share these dreams with someone who genuinely shares them back. Very beautiful and touching and fun.

beautiful piece, lydi..

nothing like really long friendships...you know that you have been there for each other, tried and true, not just for the good times...and those friendships are to savor.

Thank you so much. My friends mean a lot to me....this one in particular. Lydi**
There's such a sincere feeling behind these finely expressed words, you obviously have and have had special times with special friends.. and lucky me, i have too. WHat we do without those people whose time and troubles, smiles and memories are an important part of sharing life with. Thanks Lydi for writing such a delightful truth. x
