life just keeps on going....no matter how absurd. cynical me is at the keyboard of life.
and so it goes close to nowhere far from authenticity
frazzled minds are forced to focus
on what the vox populi seems entranced by
i suspect condescending
will be the word of the night
but that’s life in the big city the magic city the city of love well not exactly
can one be inebriated with illusion?
when the truth hides
behind smoke and mirrors
is it destined to become squalid and shabby?
at the intersection of petty and empty
the hoi polloi walk through a maze stares vacant sagaciousness lost
oui, c’est vrais
and so it goes
"can one be inebriated with illusion?
when the truth hides
behind smoke and mirrors
is it destined to become squalid and shabby?
at the intersection of petty and empty
the hoi polloi walk through a maze"~ Succinct is your cynicism...We all have doubts, and to express this is not petty nor empty....just honest.
I envision a growing population of "monkey see, monkey do"... (you know what I mean?)
Intriguing write Lydi!~xoxo~:)

wow, what sardonic tone in this...the cynics come out of the woodwork and roam the city of love, knowing that life is changing, and not for the better...not sure i want to be around in 20 years...
i am not inebriated with illusion..i am just drinking water, keeps my head clear..maybe i should try a sip of illusion..i might feel better.
great write.
i like CONDESCENDING IN BOLD......but i feel we are just descending.

It just seems to me things were a lot easier not just for me, but for the world, when I was growing up. thanks for the great review. Lydi**
This was so wonderfully written :') gosh, the rhythm and pace was just beautiful...So natural and harsh but true and wise. Every word you wrote, I cannot have imagined any other way, simply superb!

Elinor, I really appreciate your review. Thank you. Lydi**
Being snobby or behaving toward other people in a way that shows you consider yourself socially or intellectually superior to them...isn't it also bullying?
They often say that we must learn to "dance with the music". That is to follow the flow. But what if what we're doing is no longer giving us peace and contentment because it is already against our will?
Are we afraid to be called "dirty"...just because some people considered themselves
and those who "dance" with them as "clean and neat"?
And so it goes...the absurdity of life.
Clever write, Lyd**. That's my sentiment at this "young adult" age of mine. BTW, thanks for reminding me that I'm not yet in my old age. LOL
Thanks for sharing this piece. Keep writing, brilliant poet!

You're welcome. I'm grateful with your review, too, because it inspired me...
I have my cynical moments as well. Loved the write and where it took me. I thought of moments "can one be inebriated with illusion?" What a fantastic question! I think the answer is yes... Unfortunately. Great poem!
