I Write

I Write

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Positioning my heart just perfectly

so that emotions pour into my well of ink

for only you….I write

My emotions splattered

on the once naked page are meant for you

Will you caress my words tonight

holding them in places I will never dwell?

Read the words

Let them dance upon your tongue

As they rest in the curls upon your chest

Quench your thirsts with them

Listen to my private whispers

Allow my warm breath to enter your soul

and simmer there as double entendres

do dirty deeds upon the page

Yes, my darling

you need not question

tis for you…I write

Author's Note

Lydia Shutter
We all write for different reasons, but most of us hope that special someone will read our words. I wrote this poem in 2002 and it was featured in my book in 2005.

I've often wondered why I write or for whom do I write. I've come to terms that there are many reasons I write, including emotional release, mental therapy, and raw need. But I've rarely written for a particular person though I've written with certain people in mind. While I do not have a set person that inspires me to write, I do have set experiences with people that inspire me to write. Regardless, Nature is my true Muse, and to Her I devote my oeuvre. Beautiful poem, Lydi!

Your welcome.
Wow. What's your book, Miss Lydia? I'd like to read it. :) Anyway, I was thinking of writing a poem with the same thought as this but you wrote it in such a way that I never could! You always stun me with your writings. More power!

"Double entendres do dirty deeds upon the page" is such an apt description of much of your writing Lydi and they are always embraced and appreciated by this particular reader. You are, no doubt, one of my favorite contributors to any and all poetry sites. Your friend in words, Pete

A tribute piece...the words for them generate into the verse...I agree with your Author's note...I do the same ...most of the verses for the book: The Onyx - Vena Amoris were done in the beginning of 2002 and just now putting them into a collection...

I really love this poem. It is beautiful. I truly long to have that one (ok maybe two or more) person to read what I write and to understand they are at the root of my inspiration, my world... or even my heart. Thank you for sharing this with us.
