I Write

I Write

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Positioning my heart just perfectly

so that emotions pour into my well of ink

for only you….I write

My emotions splattered

on the once naked page are meant for you

Will you caress my words tonight

holding them in places I will never dwell?

Read the words

Let them dance upon your tongue

As they rest in the curls upon your chest

Quench your thirsts with them

Listen to my private whispers

Allow my warm breath to enter your soul

and simmer there as double entendres

do dirty deeds upon the page

Yes, my darling

you need not question

tis for you…I write

Lydia Shutter
We all write for different reasons, but most of us hope that special someone will read our words. I wrote this poem in 2002 and it was featured in my book in 2005.

I've often wondered why I write or for whom do I write. I've come to terms that there are many reasons I write, including emotional release, mental therapy, and raw need. But I've rarely written for a particular person though I've written with certain people in mind. While I do not have a set person that inspires me to write, I do have set experiences with people that inspire me to write. Regardless, Nature is my true Muse, and to Her I devote my oeuvre. Beautiful poem, Lydi!

I can't get past that right above. The rest of the poem is brilliant but that part of it just kinda blows me away. The way that a writer can get into the depth of an emotion - and present it - it does require that perfect positioning of a heart. Well done.

The pen is an omnipotent tool and has near limitless potential, though must be handled with due care, precision and of course imagination to maximize its effect, and you are indeed one of those highly skilled operators Lydia !

Such a passionate yearning and dedication..Lydi......you have captured the true essence of a poet's heart. Your words deserve all the caressing and loving of the world. I hope your muse does all of it ;) So gloriously sensual...you are always a joy to read, my friend.

Anytime :)
I know the love you share with your husband is everlasting, and he is a lucky man to have such a loving and talented wife, but I don't believe the words you write are only for him because so many people just love reading your poetry and get so much from it. However, I don't see anything wrong with letting him think they are all only for him. LOL. Trace
