I Write

I Write

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Positioning my heart just perfectly

so that emotions pour into my well of ink

for only you….I write

My emotions splattered

on the once naked page are meant for you

Will you caress my words tonight

holding them in places I will never dwell?

Read the words

Let them dance upon your tongue

As they rest in the curls upon your chest

Quench your thirsts with them

Listen to my private whispers

Allow my warm breath to enter your soul

and simmer there as double entendres

do dirty deeds upon the page

Yes, my darling

you need not question

tis for you…I write

I've often wondered why I write or for whom do I write. I've come to terms that there are many reasons I write, including emotional release, mental therapy, and raw need. But I've rarely written for a particular person though I've written with certain people in mind. While I do not have a set person that inspires me to write, I do have set experiences with people that inspire me to write. Regardless, Nature is my true Muse, and to Her I devote my oeuvre. Beautiful poem, Lydi!

My husband looks at me like I have three eyes sometimes. He just doesn't get poetry, he says. I write for him anyway. I love this, Lydi. Angi~

This is just beautiful. It draws the reader in and make them want to pretend, if only for a moment to be the muse. Thank you for sharing.

Your welcome. :)
Your poems are always from your heart, Lydi, and they are beautiful, in large part, because of that. I admire the sincerity and quiet strength of your words. A very good poem for a Sunday morning. Hope your day is a fine one.

For a writer, it is an intimate act, baring our soul on the page. Lovely piece, Lydi.

Oh yes, those definitive little curls that engage my fingertips! So lovely, Lydi! Beautiful art, as well!

the most private parts of ourselves come flow from the end of the pen...we really let it out..

and especially when it is for a certain someone...the confessions of love can be endless.

I have a few writes I do not publish because they are private and meant for one soul...
Those writes are the most treasured!
I loved how you share this private thought in a public way.
It shows courage and inclusive love.
Very well done.
