The Atlantic Ocean has been a constant in my life.

Your depth can not be measured you smooth operator you yet it is
perhaps that uncertainty drawing me into your whirlpool right now as
day opens the door to a sultry dusk
Since forever you have been mine I never needed a Moon River and
Old Man River was not my type I only wanted you and your waters took me
places I had only heard about in stories ones I remember so well and
will live on infinitum
You watched as I created dream castles on your
shoreline first in Jersey then in Florida
then taught me nothing lasts
forever as you grabbed freshly built towers of wet sand in your mighty
arms and threw them to a place I would imagine that night
It was always you my constant no matter where I roamed
Memories wash to your shores some now wracked with seaweed and
shattered shells but tonight my mighty Atlantic Ocean with a toe
kissed by your surging tide I draw a smile in the sand and remember
only the good times
Sounds like moving on after your love destroyed your life. Build over and the face in the sand. I am a big fan of water and have spent my time in and near it. Luckily I have been in less severe situations. I am glad you are safe and writing since you write beautiful words of imagery. Thank you for sharing. And yes I went back in your file a bit.

:) I am appreciative of the time you took to read me!
dear Lydi, my favorite line: I never needed a Moon River.
A beautiful Ode to the Ocean. We went every summer to
Ocean City Maryland, and stayed for two weeks.
I was as brown as a berry.
My Dad would float way out in the Ocean.
I would ponder the tide and look far out.
Now I live on Tidewater Trail in Virginia.
I am now the shade of an Iris gold and pink
with a wee wink for memories of Life Guards
and dreams of the sea. truly, Pat

Very nice, Lydia... very nice indeed; nice to have some of these kinds of memories to bring out on those days when nothing else will do - those days that eventually come to us all. Tre bon.

You have managed to make me miss the Cocoa Beach days and the song of the ocean. Excellent descriptive powers here and an enjoyable read for sure. ~Jim
Nothing like the beach, is there, Jim? Thanks for the great comments. Lydi**

Wow, quite intense. One that would love so intensely and another that washes away with the tide. It is so real to the one who was able to love forever. Where is that dream when it blows away too easily. Strong poem Lydia, nice 100
I like giving natural features personification. Poetry personifying trees, waterfalls, the oceans, etc... always seems to teache more about what it means to be human.
I liked the tie in with your life story. We are indeed connected to the land or the seas beneath our struggling feet.
A very enjoyable read. Well done lydi.
Yes, you have never been far from that "mighty Atlantic, " Lydi and especially now you are so close to that you are more than aware of its awesome and not always beneficent powers. I'm glad you can still look at it in a friendly manner. A positive attitude is everything in life! Well written and felt, Lydi.
