My Place For Dinner

My Place For Dinner

Come to my place for dinner
I’ll save you a special seat
from soup to nuts I’ll serve you
trust me, it'll be quite a treat!

We’ll begin with an aperitif of judgment
then a bowl of passive aggressive soup
next a croissant with pâté of opinion
sure to be a hit with your peer group

We’ll cleanse the palate with original thought
a new taste sensation for some
shall we go on to the entree now?
Best you check with your chum!

A lovely fillet of mainstream beliefs
atop a bed of dogmatic principle
please do leave room for a yummy dessert
OH NO... you haven't had your fill?

A trifle of rules, values, and ethics
with a topping of luscious whipped cream
now really I ask you my friends
is this tasty meal not supreme?

You may want to spell relief after all this
perhaps you’ll have indigestion
can I expect you to return next week?
Hey, that’s a rhetorical question!

I wrote this when I was frustrated with someone's behavior a few months ago. It made me feel MUCH better! Enjoy!

How bloomin delicious and clever too... you certainly gave whoever it was, their just desserts here Lydi**.. this is so much more than petit fours, tis a whole four courser with an amuse bouche palette cleanser thrown in... wish I could give it more than 100....N x

This one is full of very sharp flavors carved with a very sharp tongue! I loved this piece so much, because I can relate so well. Frustration is the aroma I have been scenting for weeks. This made me feel so much better. Well done (even though I like my meat medium rare) Angi~

Writing is a great way to get rid of those frustrations, Lydi. Hope it worked for you. I got a kick out of visualizing such a delightful (?) scene. Must have been a hoot! ;)

metaphorically i am sated..but i am sure my appetite will be back next week...so yes...please cook me up some more realities...my ethics are as stable as whipped cream...but my craziness is as sweet as chocolate syrup...and i feel like pouring my introspection all over this poem and taking big spoonfuls.

You must give me the recipe for this piste d' resistance meal, in case I ever decide to have 'FRIENDS' over for dinner! Your poetic cooking is delightful indeed Lydia!

A spectacular read! Love this one, first I love cooking, and I think I've cooked up some of the stuff on this menu, just saying. ;-) Muchly enjoyed!

A wonderful poem, this one really made my day. I would love to come over for dinner with some of the people I know and I think the spice of the evening would be called DEBATE. I enjoyed this poem very much. It sounds like we have a couple of things in common with some people within our lives.

hmmm Lydi, they say that revenge is a meal best served COLD!!! and I have to admit that the hairs on the back of my neck tingled and goose (was this one of the entree's??) bumps arose on my arms after an evil and sated smile crossed my lips...*smack*... and I can only guess that as they read this (at least I hope they did) they could feel the knife slicing thru their jealous and hypocritical hearts... I am in awe of your word use as art!!! and in its own way, this poem is also "nice" ~~redzone
