Words Spill

About to open the door
into another world
she writes the final page of her story
frail hands shaking with destiny
there was a time life surged
when she summoned it
a time when tulips bloomed
and organs played lilting melodies
now like a bird poised
to take flight
at precisely the moment
her inner calendar dictates
she will fly
unafraid
I take odd comfort in knowing
this is what she wants
like my tears
words spill into my poem

This piece resonates deep within my heart and soul. Tears fall as I feel the emotion in each word. I lost my mom three years ago as well, and miss her every day.

Oh my friend.. this is so gracefully...yet powerfully written. your words honor a profound, silent sorrow. I could almost see rays of sacred light spilling from that open door. Lydi, may the churning memories bring you lots of comfort and peace. A deeply touching tribute to your Mom, my friend.

A vivid, moving poem, Lydi. I could feel your love and deep sorrow and my heart went out to you. My mother also passed around this time so your poem was especially significant to me. Thank you for sharing your wonderful poetry.

A deeply personal write, but I know that many of us can directly relate to this, as we are reminded of someone now gone from our lives. A hard-hitting poem, Lydi, but a highly accomplished one! ~ Robert.

Robert, I always appreciate your comments. Thank you so much. Lydi**
My grandmother died in a nursing home, never having gained consciousness. My flight arrived just two days prior, which allowed me the time to "introduce" her to Eric, who was two. I placed his hand in hers, then cupped the two of their hands, in mine.

I don't believe their souls ever leave us. I think we carry them all the days of our lives.

Such a beautiful pen, my friend!

My love,
Kelly

I was reminded of Margaret Laurence--one of Canada's best writers. What a fantastic piece of love and letting go. Splendid imagery.
