"Even those full of light cast shadows forged of darkness wherever they go..." Said no optimist ever.
But I'm not your optimist now, am I?
To be quite frank, I'm not entirely sure just who exactly I am.
And if I should struggle to explain it surely you would struggle to
understand for one can not teach what one has little knowledge and no
mastery of...
However, to assuage your curiosity let me simply say then that I am a living, breathing organism, enshrouding a lost soul. Trying to find my way home.
I like it! The words you use are compelling. I promise I am not trying to be over complimentative, but this is my favorite poem/novel/story/truth, that I have read tonight. The way you write is sort of similar to how I write though obviously not identical; we are both different people, haha! Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write this gem.

Thank you, I am not sure I want to add more to this piece..but I'm glad you liked it.
This has a wonderful, straightforward honesty about it. The notion that we are asked about who we are seems like a trivial and odd enquiry. Life is really a very lengthy journey about us attempting to untangle that mystery, trying to fill in spaces after our own self-imposed question marks. Each stage of psychological development opens up a new door of confusion, sometimes regarding our unique spiritual/religious beliefs, relationship desires, political perspectives, physical and emotional needs, internal purpose, etc. It all becomes rather muddy and knotted up, and it changes constantly and unpredictably as years pass. I love that you chose the line "a living, breathing organism, enshrouding a lost soul" to conclusively state that we're all just vessels with wandering phantoms inside of us. Great write, Lyanth =) .

Over the years, I've read all kinds of "self introductions" on this website, but this one is the most arresting I've ever read. At every point along the way, I was mystified as to where this was going, mystified in a curious, intrigued way. The overall tone might suggest that this narrator is offering just a lump of gray nothingness, but hidden in the sulking spill, a rich plethora of imagination seemingly hides! Well crafted tease of sass (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
Not quite a poem, or a story, or a novel... but a little bit of everything.. and a whole lotta truth just for good measure..

I feel like it’s the search for self that keeps us moving forward. If we are too sure of where we stand we lose a bit of the urgency that leads to seeking. At least that’s been my experience.
I love the idea of your statement: “Even those full of light cast shadows.” Perhaps the dedicated optimist who refuses to see the world in two sided terms is only half realizing the reality of themselves. I don’t know. I think there’s so much we don’t know and that the preservation of mystery is one of the lovelier things to live for.
Interesting philosophics in this poem. Self-exploration is a great creative tool. Nice to meet you, Lyanth.

You make an interesting point, however on the other hand, I feel that it is knowing yourself and who you are that allows you to see what can or should be changed and helps you move forward with improvement. If we do not know where we stand or who we are, how can we know when we are write or wrong, or what could be better, or what parts of us we want to grow. If we never have a belief or opinion, how can we develop it, change it and see compare to better or worse? Soul Searching does have it's place. I think, we do it most when we are young. The rest of our adult lives are spent refining what we've found. Much like a gold nugget. A clump of knowledge, opinion and points of views that must be molded, shaped, refined tested and formed into the finished piece. That is my outlook at least. Thank you again for reading and sharing your opinion
