Our Last Summer

Our Last Summer

A Poem by BeautyFromTheEarth93

Picnics at the beach,

Your long locks lingering in the light breeze,

The sweet smell of strawberries,

The last summer of you and me.

Youth is a precious gift,

Summer, a child’s game,

Our innocent and abrupt childhood we shared,

You and I were one and the same.

Things started changing,

Priorities became different,

But our friendship was like a rock,

It’s obvious that you were heaven-sent.

God sent you to be my best friend,

To bring me out of this depression,

You took my heavy heart and made it light,

But, I just have one question.

As summer closes, worries come to my mind,

Will you still love me and care?,

Will we see each other at summer’s end?,

Will you still be there?

This is very powerful poetry, beautiful and touching, true and vunerable yet filled with hope. I do have a few suggestions to improve this masterpiece, (or rather to perfect it) Instead of "Our innocence and..."
"Our innocent and abrupt" sounds much better..same meaning, better word choice. And " heavy heart and make" The word "make" should be "made", just a few little things that can be fixed to make this a perfect work of art. VERY NICE.

This was a beautiful piece; it reminded me a lot of the difficulties my friends are experiencing with letting go of their childhoods....thumbs up!

Awww! This is so sad, beautifully sad indeed!
I can really relate myself to this piece, and I guess most of who had ever loved can find it close to our lives.
Deep inside there is a summer like this alive in our soul...
Great piece of writing!

In matters of love, that question is often asked. How many songs have asked "Will you still love me tomorrow?" Well, no one can tell. A lovely poem from a lovely young lady.

I'm going to favorite this, it really is beautiful, it is nostalgic from a youthful point of view which is strange and unsettling but beautifully reminds me of youth.

this was excellent! the first verse was especially good, I felt you described summer in all it's glory.
the poem also flowed well, kept a steady rhythm.
It made me nostalgic of summer, seeing as I'm staring at my back garden burried in snow
keep up the good work =D
