Here I Am

Here I Am

A Poem by BeautyFromTheEarth93
"

This was inspired by my friend.

"

Things have been different,

Since the day you slipped away,

Nothing is the way it should be,

I couldn't make you stay.

You slipped through my fingers,

Like the wind blowing through your hair,

There was nothing I could do,

Though everything in life we would share.

But this we could not, did not, share,

Your cancer of the bone,

That took your youthful beauty away,

I cry because I'm all alone.

You were so young and free,

Nothing seemed to phase you,

You skipped and jumped happily,

To you, the sky was always a pure blue.

Why must you leave?

It isn't your time yet,

I'm sure that there are things,

I will regret.

Was it really necessary to fight?,

Over a stupid reason?,

You being gone,

Makes me cry every season.

There's one little shred of hope,

And happiness that I hold,

You gave me your daughter,

To love and to mold.

Looking into her different-colored eyes,

Reminds me of you,

I smile to myself,

And then I'm not so blue.

Rest assured that I will,

Take care of your daughter,

I'll love her like my own,

And I won't let go of her.

Now I am old and brittle,

Your daughter has daughters of her own,

She gives them the love,

That to her I have shown.

I can't wait to get to heaven,

So I can see your smile in this glorious land,

And just know that,

Here I am.

This is so beautifully sad, so heart wrenching and sad... But this is indeed the truth of life, often god departs us from the one whom we love without any reason..leaving us alone with tears! :(
And leaving wounds which even time cannot erase!
This is really very well penned!

I've said it before--you're heart is too big. Well, maybe it's only too big in this world but not the next. A fine, sensitive poem, Gabby.

Wow gabby this is amazing! I love how you put some of Paige's traits in it. I bet she would love it completely. I swear this almost made me cry but it also reminds me of bern. Being taken away to young and how happy she always was. Great job babe

A great example here of paying it forward, taking care of the guardianship entrusted to one, promises kept, not because of fear but because of a trust that has been respected. I love both the concept and the idea behind it.
