CryA Poem by LuuucyShe plugs her ears to the baby’s cry She hollers for him to stop The baby hears his mother’s voice And cries ’til the sun comes up
She cries to herself in her empty room Because she is all alone Her baby cries, he’s lonely too And she is all he knows
Then, she opens up her door To make the crying cease She walks weary to his room And she confronts the beast
The beast he sees his mother’s face He smells his mother’s smell The beast he hears his mother’s voice And knows that all is well
The mother sees her life and blood She smells his sweet cream scent The mother hears unsteady breaths And holds him to her chest
The boy now walks and talks and plays He runs and laughs through endless days The boy is jubilant and free He wears his feelings on his sleeve
He’s older now and learning fast That boyhood fears are of the past He must strong to be a man He shouldn’t need a helping hand
Tears are weak and full of shame Tears are beasts that must be tamed He traps his beasts and locks the cage They scream and wail. He looks away
He cries alone behind closed doors So, no one hears a sound He’s crying for his mother But she can’t hear him now © 2022 Luuucy |
