Snail

Snail

A Poem by Luuucy
"

I wrote this 4 years ago, found it sifting though old stuff

"

He starts to wander

Nowhere in mind

As he walks, he rocks

Back and forth

Sticky sap oozing down a tree

Slowly he goes

Meandering

He looks to see all he can see:

Little blades of emerald grass

Peeking through the sidewalk cracks

A brown, decaying fallen leaf

With gnashing scars of caterpillar teeth.

The weight on his shoulders

Slows him down

The old sap hardens to amber

He keeps drooling on

Drags more weight along

Continuing his tired meander.

Wherever he goes,

 A smudgy trail lingers

Pesky and sticky,

He is rubbed away.

Smashed in the ground

He has no say

But, like a stray cat

He always comes back

Only to be again

Sent astray
