Trapped NomadA Poem by LuuucyI wrote this after seeing a homeless woman sitting in the park with a bright yellow bird sitting on top of its cageA
trapped nomad Free
to be nowhere Carries
her life on her shoulders As
she circles a cage Displaced
but not erased No
one can fathom The
fathoms she's faced Every
step a part of a chase To
put her in her nowhere place
She
opens a cage Sets
free a bird But
the bird stays She
shoos it away She
tosses the cage But
the bird stays So
she nurtures the bird With
all that she has Pours
it with love That
she never had
Why
do you stay When
you're free to flee? I
stay for you Until
someone here sees That
you're worth the time You're
worth the attention While
you're kicked to the curb Without
hesitation You
give and get nothing I'm
here 'till that changes.
But
who will open the cage that I age in? © 2016 LuuucyAuthor's Note
