The Neighbors Talked That Day

The neighbors talked that day,

They tittered and chatted,

All about the news that day.

 

They came to take her away that day,

The men in white coats, so stark and bright,

They went and bottled her up that day.

 

They had to scoop her up that day,

The men had to pick up the pieces,

Her torn mind and heart that day.

 

The gurney was loaded that day,

A woman who had finally stopped,

All thought of peace had ceased that day.

 

The police did not enjoy that day,

The call was brief and sweet,

Not telling at all of the scene that day.

She finally broke that day,

Her mind gave way and her heart just stopped,

The numbness had completely taken her over that day.

 

The neighbors talked that day,

She had screamed and cried,

All through the night till that day.

A very interesting story. What did this girl do when she went to numb? I am really fascinated by this. There are so many different levels...what the girl did, what the neighbors were whispering, why she was going away to asylum....so many questions. I like this very much. It made me stop and think. Very nicely done.

I like this poem, it's different. I like how it's in third person and past tense. I also think it's interesting that the reader can see not only the view of the girl, but the neighbors and police as well. Take Care! Stay Strong! :)
