Enigmatic PeripateticA Poem by Rev. David J. SchrefflerOn the road with Jesus
An Enigmatic peripatetic
walking along the road, He has come to seek what is pathetic his story needs to be told. Traversing on the road to Emmaus, Unknown yet, oddly known; He speaks of love, to Trav'lers like us He's welcomed to their home. He broke the Bread, and their eyes were opened, Then vanished from their sight; Their hearts were burning when scripture was spoken, They will not sleep tonight. An enigmatic peripatetic has come into our church; He looks not like us -- he seems pathetic, Many are left in a lurch. What do we do -- this odd-looking fellow, has come seeking some rest; quick find the pastor, they surely will know how we can serve him best. Peripatetics, are we all -- bent necked Travellers and mourners; When will we learn that we're all pathetic, Enigmatic sojourners. © 2015 Rev. David J. Schreffler |
