Going Dark

Going Dark

A Poem by Rev. David J. Schreffler
"

A poem about difficult times and turning within -- until remembering that the light of Christ shatters all the darkness of our lives.

"

I'm Going Dark
Going Dark...
Can't See Beyond
The Outpouring of Pain;
If Going Dark Helps Me Get Through
Then In Going Dark There is No Shame.

I'm Going Dark
Going Dark...
Won't Ever Know
How Darkness Helps Me See;
If Going Dark Helps me Catch Myself
Then In Darkness I Take My Leave...

I'm Going Dark
Going Dark...
Can't See Past
My Own Depth of Thought;
If Going Dark Helps To See Me Through
The Depths of Angst Others Have Wrought.

I'm Going Dark
Going Dark...
No More Thoughts
Though Yours Will Be Life-Giving;
If Going Dark Helps Me Day to Day
Then Going Dark Gives Light to My Living.

But....

There is Light
Yes, There is Light....
There's Light Beyond
All The Pain Life is Giving;
The Light of Christ Will Break the Darkness
His Spirit Breathes Life Through the Living.

Hey Rev. Nice work. Like the repetitive lines and imagery. Don't care for the rhyme "wrought" for some reason. Didn't sound right to my ear. Maybe a bit archaic? Anyway that's just me. Glad you posted this up. Look forward to seeing more. CD
