Chapter Four- Randy

Chapter Four- Randy

A Story by Olivia
"

Randys mother does not agree with him moving in with Sara. Randy moves in with Sara off to a bad start

"

“I don’t understand.” My mom murmured- for like the fifth time in a row.

I sighed.

“Mom you do understand, you just don’t think that this is a good idea.”

“Well you’re right about that one Randy; I think it’s a terrible idea! Why would you want to live with your boss…? I thought you got fired.”

“Well I did but she offered me my job back if I come to stay with her.”

My mom was frowning; she was frowning so much I was sure new wrinkles on her forehead were taking form right now.

“What is it she wants from you Randy?”

“Mom! She just wants me to come back. She is probably over her head with work right now, she needs my help. She just wants to ensure that I actually get to work on time and thinks if I live with her then the problem will be fixed.”

My mom was rubbing lotion on her hands. I really don’t think she paid attention to anything that I said to her.

“Mom, Did you hear what I said?” I inquired impatiently.

“I heard you Randy, I just don’t agree with it. Besides I drove all the way here just to pick you up.”

“God mom, it doesn’t even take fifteen minutes to get here we live in the same town.”

I was starting to get really frustrated with her now.
Mom didn’t say a word.

“Mom?” I tried.

“Are you just going to stand there and ignore me?”

No answer.

“You’re kidding me!” I sighed extremely irritated.
After a painful twenty minutes of silence, mom must have decided she was bored because she left. She did say a few words to me before she left.

“I canceled getting my nails done to come get you.”

Seriously, that is all she said. The thing is she really isn’t mad. She just really does not know how to act with this situation. Not that there is a situation.

I started to load my bags into my car. I was actually getting really excited; I was going to live with Sara. I would be waking up in the mornings and Sara would be lounging around in her jammies!
Wow- I wonder what she likes to sleep in?
I found myself grinning as I got into my car; my new life with a beautiful girl was just about to begin!

Once I walked into the apartment entrance I rang the buzzer.

“Hello?” Sara called.

She sounded so cute.

“Hey, babe.” I said softly.

“Randy?” She answered.

I smiled, she knew it was me!

“How did you know it was me, baby?” I asked.

“Um, probably because I told you to come so I was expecting you.”

Oh s**t. Now she sounds annoyed.

“Can I come in?” I tried.

“If you stop calling me babe and baby.”

Oh god. Now this is getting embarrassing. Great Sara probably thinks I am such a creep right now.
She buzzed me in. I started walking up the stairs heading to her apartment- our apartment.

I knocked on the apartment door and she instantly opened it. She looked breath taking! Her hair was in loose waves down her back and she was wearing dark denim jeans with a pretty turquoise top.

“Hey you!” I said sounding way to enthusiastic.

She sighed. She actually looked less then pleased to see me. This is actually really awkward standing here with her.

“Can you please; I am begging you call me by my name! My name is Sara not dude, baby, nor babe.”

Ok this is just embarrassing.
My first day here and I already feel like a d****e. I nodded speechless.

Sara looked really uncomfortable.

“Come with me, I will show you were you’re room is.”

Sara led me into an immaculately clean room. The bed was made. The room smelled like it had just been painted. And the carpet still had marks in it from being vacuumed. Well this is just grand, she is a person who likes a clean area…and I like the smell of chicken wings and beer scenting the room.

“I’ll just leave you to unpack.” Sara started.

“Dinner will be ready at 6:30. I’m making a chicken ceaser salad.”

She turned to leave the room. And I started to unpack my stuff. I was trying really hard to unpack things and put them in their right places as neatly as I could. I really didn’t want to disturb the harmony Sara seemed to have left in this room.

After I was done unpacking my stomach started to growl. I wondered into the kitchen were Sara was placing bowls full of salad with- what lemon wedges in them? Ew, that is so gross. I wonder what else we are eating.

“So, what are we eating?” I asked.

Sara frowned.

“I thought I told you this already, we are having chicken ceaser salad.”

“Just the salad?” I asked.

Sara nodded.
Great now I am pretty sure I have just offended her.
I am really off to quite the start.
I started to pick the chicken out of my salad and eat it- and it’s not even the crunchy chicken I like.

Sara was staring at me. She was taking the tiniest bites I have ever seen. At this rate she would be at the table for like three and a half hours.

And then it began.
The exact same thing, that happened with my mom earlier.

Complete silence.

haha, you have done so well creating Randy, an awkward teenager living out every teenagers dream, you capture him so well. I feel sorry for him in a way but then again he doesn't help himself.
The humour comes naturally because of the great dialogue you have created, it flows so well and makes a great read. Nice work!
