MirrorA Poem by LupusTacitaMirror
You forced all these things I didn’t want to see Until all that remained were nightmares in place of
dreams. Pushing and pulling at the tender bits left of my soul. How could I ever tell you no? Things I thought could have been averted became readily
apparent, And lost all shimmer and shine of the artists’ creations. So I gave in and retreated further within mine own self. Hiding so that machinations remained in shadow. You must have sensed these inner battles, the blood being
shed. Aware of collateral damage you made your moves and led The war on my inner demons, and your own. Shadows fighting shadows until light burst apart all. No fears, no nightmares, only new light in the darkness. But darkness cares not for light, and shadows do not die
so easily. Plots and ploys abound out of reason’s control, So it sits grasping and gasping, just like her. Raindrops falling all around, crimson swirls in rivulets
along the blacktop. Light now simply illuminating the darkness before it, the
mangled but free. No answers, and only a question remains, this face in the
mirror asks Why not me? © 2015 LupusTacita |
