Corruptio (Part I of "In Tenebris, In Lumine")

Corruptio (Part I of "In Tenebris, In Lumine")

A Poem by LupusTacita

It lives within that deep, lightless abyss,

Always hidden hence rarely seen.

Those looking will continually miss

And those found will wish themselves less keen.

It is a monstrosity, an uncaring beast.

I can never cut these ties that bind.

Sitting in the dark, it grows, it feasts,

Can I master it before it erodes my mind?

When it swells to the point of breach,

My skin cannot contain the poison it leaks.

This malignant relationship, this b*****d leach,

I fear this end, there will be no reaching my peak.

I fight, I fight, but razors against wind,

Abandon hope, and embrace despair.

The madness consumes, my mind rends.

Defenses broken, my psyche lay bare.
