Rain Drops and Lies

Rain Drops and Lies

A Poem by Kenneth Compton

Circus of Angels
All at right angles
Sing a hymnal
For the criminals

Preaching to the Perverted
Will leave a god deserted

So we listen to the rains of forever
In an all but fruitless endeavor
So we cry out to the heavens in anger
In an all but blasphemous slander

Left to our vices
Thoughts come in splices
Dieing for crises
Not worth the prices

Singing for a diversion
Leaves you deaf to salvation

So you listen to the lies of Lazerus
Like an all but thoughtless masochist
So you cry out to the heavens in anger
To a god who thinks you a stranger

Amen!
So you cry out to the heavens in anger
To a god who thinks you a stranger

Good rhythm to your writing and good flow.

Thank you Tinquire, I have written some free-verse and I agree it's easier to get your point across, but I do enjoy the challenge of meshing rhyme and reason. If it were easy everybody'd do it right? But thank you for your critique, it is insightful

I like the idea and the strong emotions about god. I think you would be able to express yourself more freely and accurately if you did not bind yourself to rhyming.
