A Poem by Kenneth Compton
"

A Villanelle poem. Hope you enjoy it.

"

Ice and fire bring life to the oldest bones
A pain not felt in a time long forgot
Movement sways even the heaviest stones

Lava lips tell histories between moans
of endeavors of man endlessly sought
Ice and fire bring life to the oldest bones

Lustful whispers create canyons with drones
Of buzzing bees around honey's combed lot
Movement sways even the heaviest stones

Glacial glances no lover condones
Teach ancient lessons no gods have taught
Ice and fire bring life to the oldest bones

Music carries wisdom in it's tuned groans
Immortalize the songs of passion sought
Movement sways even the heaviest stones

Even the Reaper shivers amidst moans
Of love and hate's eternal tightening knot
Ice and fire bring life to the oldest bones
Movement sways even the heaviest stones

How eloquent, dear sir! Very beautifully written! I like this very much. I think I just might keep this for my very own and save it in my favorites...thank you for writing this!
All my best, G.

well well. one of the best villanelles i've read, which is coool. i dont know much abotu the form, but you can tell by reading this one and trying to pick it apart (like i did) that it is definitely a challenge, and you definitely pulled it off here.

"Lava lips tell histories between moans

that's great. :)

hugs

Villanelle is no walk in the park, especially if you're diligent (as you have been here) about maintaining a regular meter. This doesn't have the feel of being forced, either in terms of flow, rhyme, or theme. A very solid piece of work.
