Broken Little Things

Broken Little Things

A Poem by Kenneth Compton
"

I wrote this while drinking. Surprise surprise.

"
We are broken little things
We wail for freedom while begging for chains
We crave love only to throw it away
We shiver from the loneliness
Yet we are none of us alone

We can only be happy in our gloom
We share our pain
In the hopes of touching joy
In dichotomy, we are whole

Come be my paradox in blue
Let our darkness merge to make light
To make axioms out of insanities
And fear into fellowship

let our darkness merge to make light
to make axioms out of insanities
and fear into fellowship"

Brilliant! I love the first line of this stanza especially, but this was really a great poem. You wove your words together nicely. We may all be small broken things, yet we piece ourselves back together somehow, the cracks and chips showing the world who we really are. Maika'i no, great job!
