morning ritual

morning ritual

A Poem by Luna Tique Fringe

Morning Ritual

Moments of quiet reflection
holding on to the last sweet dream
inevitably it evaporates
like steam from the cup

i stir the little cauldron clockwise
tap the rim lightly with silver spoon
banishing night's cobwebs,
conjuring images of the day

i breathe the steam
enjoying the warmth
on my face and in my hands

first timid sip rolls across my tongue
first swallow -
a hot, sweet,  liquid hug

You write,

...a hot, sweet, liquid hug....

The poem's energy bestows an enchantment true to its rendering pen. Beautiful. Sabine*

Your descriptions of a morning ritual enchanted me. I can't come up with any constructive critique for this gorgeous little gem. I will be thinking of this piece when I wake up tomorrow and begin my own ritual :)

It rises like a vapor from the screen. Comfort and warmth conveyed in the words. It works for me.

Glad to see some words back on this page, by the way.

I like this one a lot, you capture the magic well. You might keep the mystical metaphor going a bit more in the second quatrain by referring to sliver spoon as a wand, ladle, or something along that line.

Good timing on this one, I am sitting with my morning brew right now!
