Ghost

Ghost

A Poem by Luna Lazarus
"

No.

"

I must be a ghost to you,

For I seem to dissolve into thin air

Every time I catch your eye.

I am a ghost to you,

Because you are the anti-ghost.

In a world of thick swirling mist,

Where the instant before it solidifies, it dissipates,

You are whole and true,

Like a tree’s black, stark stance in the midst of vibrant sunset.

You catch me only in wisps,

When the paranoia strikes at you

Like a viper.

You’re suddenly aware of your surroundings,

But only for the split second before panic sinks in,

And instinct carries you away

Far away from the twisted fantasyland

Our love has morphed, deformed, into.

A banshee’s wail is not what escapes my tortured lips,

So alone,

But a suffering moan of despair at a soul lost…

From my grip

Once again.
