Araniel's Journal

This is an entry from Araniel (A Faerie Queen)'s journal that is meant for her daughter Aria.

To my dearest daughter Aria.

It is strange for me to be writing this to you, with you asleep beside me in your cradle, and know that one day you will be reading this as a strong, independent young woman of only sixteen. And as I write this, laying in this bed with your father sleeping blissfully unaware of the events that will occur, I am preparing to leave you.

It is a harsh and terrible truth, my darling Aria, but a truth nonetheless. I am preparing to leave you, knowing you will have to face Lucif without me, but you will not be alone Aria, you are never alone.

I have three tasks for you to complete, and they are not simple, nor can they ever be fully complete for they are things you must use on an everyday basis for the rest of your life, if that makes any sense. Although, I already know they will not make sense to you. Oh, tis my cruel and sad curse, one of many, cast upon me. I know my fate.

The first task for you is to trust. It is a hard task, that much is clear, but it is an important one. However, my daughter, never trust blindly. Trust is to be earned, not given freely. Always remember this.

Oh, how I fear for you, my lovely Aria, sweetest of sweets! Lucifer is growing so strong now, only a youngling but capable of such great yet terrible, terrible magicks. How can I leave you? To fight this foe, who I, mine self, have trained in part? But you will not be alone, I must remember this. You have my journal, which I leave for you. You have Shayla,  Endellia, and Essence. And of course there's Gabriel, there will always be Gabriel. Trust in him, and do as he asks, but not blindly. Always trust your instincts, even when it is hardest. Your instincts will never lead you astray.

My second task for you is to never stop fighting, my dearest child. Even in times of heartache and pain, where you feel like you ought to give up-- and I know you will feel these feelings, it's unavoidable-- but just know that you will never be alone, and you MUSTN'T give up! You cannot give up Aria! Reread my words as oft as need be, but you cannot give up. Lucifer is a powerful young Fae, and his power will only grow as he ages, and by the time you read this, his power will have tripled at least. So this you must heed, never give up, as hopeless as it may seem. Never give up.

My final task for you is to live.  Such a simple sounding task, yet  hard to remember. Love freely,  sing loudly, dance wildly, laugh often.. You must  live your life, because it is only through you that the rest of us Spring Fae live. Wow.. there's a scary thought. The lives of the Spring Fae reside in your small hands.

But I am not afraid, because I believe in you, daughter. I know that, in the end, everything will be okay. Because you are not alone, and I believe in you. Please know that I love you, and that I never wanted to leave you, but I had no choice. You'll understand one day.

My child, I love you with all my heart, but this is the end of the letter. Everything will be explained in the journal, should you choose to read it. Please, listen to Gabriel, but follow your instincts. If something feels wrong, it is. You are half Fae, which means you have abilities far beyond what you could have imagined. Please, please remember this.
