My Parents, T.V. and InternetA Poem by Little PillI had to write a rant for class.Cell phones ringing, beeping and playing a song. Little white headphones so we can sing along. Click, click, click of a keyboard that fits in your
hands. Playlists filled with all your favorite bands. It’s the afternoon and you should be up and about. Instead the T.V.s on and you’re passed out. Not even ten and they can already text Oh what wonders will technology bring us next? A computes the size of your wallet. That will cost you everything in it. T.V.s so large they barely fit in the door. Channels and choices galore. Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter too. Wasting time on the internet is all we do. Kids always inside never out in the sun. What happen to outdoor kinds of fun? Two hundred dollar for a label the size of your
thumb. On a pair of shorts that barely cover your bum. While others are naked and cold on the street. You have three hundred dollar sandals on your feet. Can’t get a signal and you start to cry The internet’s not working you might as well die. No T.V. the world is going to end. And why can’t you get your text to send? We’ll watch the DVD instead of reading the book. And order McDonald’s because no one wants to cook. Fab diets, lipo and food in a can. And the beautiful orangey glow of a spray tan. Gameboys, and playstations instead of games and
play. We can text a novel, but in person have nothing to
say. A hundred gadgets and gizmos with no purpose at all. What happen to hide and go seek, soccer and
kickball? Shows designed to make kids bright. But with all this technology we’re losing sight. T.V.’s become mom, the internet’s now dad. Families all fall apart it’s really just sad. © 2010 Little Pill |
