Stand Your Ground.

To Women who are abused on a daily basis.

We live in a generation where the creatures

that hunt you 

become your friend. 

Women are abused, used, and thrown 

like your mothers, mother 

to the core of your daughters, daughter. 

I lived to tell the tales of the world that raised us 

and how thunder and rain 

crumbled the beauty. 

They said if rain can wash dirt away, we are 

Pure.

If the ocean can hold secrets, 

we are promised. 

If the earth can create we are, 

blessed.

I never understood 

their promises 

their blessing 

or the purity that was taken from them. 

But I wanted to tell them, 

if you can trap the world in your hands

Stroke it 

if you see the colours fading 

Paint. 

If you see the clouds crying 

Cry. 

But when the world shakes, stand your ground.

If you don't, you will be swallowed.

Author's Note

This poem was inspired by someone who i know, and this person is probably the strongest woman, i have ever met.
She inspired me to write this piece and also another. The picture also inspired me. There is something fierce and powerful behind all those colours, 'i believe its a woman who is telling a story to the world, and the colours are hiding her pain. (But look close) You will know her story.'
But this poem is for those who have no voice in this world, and feel trapped. I just feel like this world is big enough, so is your heart. So to my lovely people, when the world shakes 'Stand Your Ground.'

An inspirational verse indeed... the words worked a magic beyond the frame of what we could see in it, so I surmised it had a bit more of a personal touch to it. Reading your author's note, I see that it was inspired by someone important. I've found that poems like that tend to be among the best things we ever write... the things we write for and about someone else.

Your right... And yeah it does have a personal touch, I always imagine or become that person and in my point of view I tell that story in my poem.
