The Eyes of humanity

The Eyes of humanity

A Poem by Luke Ritta

The eyes of humanity

I gaze into the eyes of humanity and see an emerald coloured

                      Flame flicker in the dark.

Should we walk forward?

           Should we walk backward?

Should we live life as we choose?

I gaze into the eyes of humanity and watch the souls of

Mankind dance in a silver haze.

     Should we love each other?

                 Should we hate each other?

I gaze into the eyes of humanity and it gazes

                                  Back at me.

I'm not really sure how it makes me fill besides making me wonder about the answers to the questions. It makes me want to answer them. And by the end I like how you put that you gaze into the eyes of humanity and it gazes back at me. The flow is nice.

sounds like the questions of someone who is completely unsure of themselves, much like humanity is in general. The lack of confidence and the decision on whether or not we should conform or walk our own path. Seemingly a constant battle we all have to undergo, much like a life-long rite of passage into old age. Then and only then do we have the ability to reflect on whether we should have or not. Wonderfully penned!

There are some pretty strong questions in this poem. I say we should love each other if possible. My favorite line is staring into the eyes of humanity. I also love the use of color in this poem. It makes the image more profound.

I think when it comes to mankind, it's always "hard" to understand, to choose, to answer these questions (which fit perfectly in your poem). Anyhow, love your work, well done and I love the end of it "...and it gazes back at me". Great!

There is no simple answer..a gaze merely addresses another gaze...its often said one person can't make a difference...but ohhhhh how they can! Superb poem love xx

Just by looking at it, the reader can already guess at the complexity of the topic raised within this poem. The structure of the words appears just as chaotic as the questions raised within these words. It's nicely written and flows evenly yet arbitrarily from start to finish just like thoughts drifting through one's mind.
I like it :)
