1939-1945

A Poem by Luke Ritta
"

A small poem about WW2.

"

1939-1945

Tanks…blood…guns…death…army’s…

        Soldiers…generals…pilots…massacres…

           Concentration camps…mass murder…ethnic cleansing…

                Paperwork…bombing raids…failed assassination…P.O.W. camps…

                 Frozen men…burning women…dead babies…animals left to die…

Berlin falls to the Russians in a snowstorm…

A bullet is inserted into the devils brain by his own gun…

               An atom bomb is dropped…

Six years of death and destruction end…

Over 60 million hearts beat one last time…

“Tanks…blood…guns…death…[armies].”
“An [atomic] bomb is dropped…”

I thought this was impactful, but not that powerful. If that makes sense. The subject is one that creates an strong effect itself; I just thought more build up could be used to make that final killer of a line even more wrenching. It’s just my opinion, of course, but with a little more length and a little more scene, description, action, reaction, it’ll be even more intense.

Great work though! Merry writing.
