Merry Christmas everybody!

Merry Christmas everybody!

A Poem by Luke Ritta
"

a poem about xmas time.

"

Merry Christmas everybody!

Her nose bleeds! A blood droplet falls onto a

blanket of snow like a glazed cherry

on top of a cupcake.

Festivity lights twinkle into the frosty

Night. Her eyes slowly blink for

one Last time.

Her brown shoes drop of her frozen feet.

Half a mile away a man is at a party

 drinking a glass of Champaign

And laughing with

his friends.

Her skin is pale, almost ghostly white.

Children are to excited to go to

Sleep. A cat sleeps under

 decorated Christmas

Tree.

Her life slips away by the seconded.

Family’s eat so much they

commit one of the

seven sins.

A husband tells a wife how much he love her while they

kiss under mistletoe. A black shadow swings

back and forth on the snow covered grass.

A lonesome women is hanging of

a branch on Christmas

Eve.

Back and forth!

Back and forth!

Back and forth!

Wow, this is just amazing, from the poem forming a christmas tree to the content.
I, too, liked the contrast between the truly merry christmas of maybe most people and the lonely one of the woman. I love the way you catch a glimpse of the scene of the suicide in one line only to be pulled away from it to peek at another's happiness in the next.
To me the last three lines add some finality, which concludes the poem perfectly, but they don't just make me thing of the woman swinging back and forth, but also of bells ringing, be they the bells ringing out christmas or knells...
I enjoyed the morbidity, not what you'd expect when reading the title, and I definitely liked it.
Keep it up!

Such a powerful poem! A majority of people see Christmas as a time to be happy and spend time with family and friends. But this isn't necessarily the case; some people have no one and Christmas can be one of the most miserable and unbearable times of the year for them. Your poem has brought these poor people to the attention of others. If everyone was friendly to one another, smiled more and such, these people might not feel so alone. The contrast between this woman's suffering to the happiness of those around her is effective because it highlights the truth and the unfairness of the situation.

Thank you for sharing.

o poor woman. the contrast you used between those who are happy and those who can literally hang of a branch on Christmas is just sad.
I love the way you're writing by the way
