The Oak Tree.

The Oak Tree.

A Poem by Luke Roberts
"

My second piece in two days! Please leave a comment.

"
Sat beneath the oak tree,
where nobody goes any more.
O why is it like that,
why does it have to be like that?

It was once a happy place,
but now just memories remain.
Left behind in an ever-changing world.

A lone tree on the hillside...

Only cattle for company,
the wind whispering it's name.

O why is it like that,
why does it have to be like that?

Then one day she came to him,
sat beneath it's shadow.
At once he was taken in,
a saviour for it's troubles.

Frequently she visited,
her smile lit up the world around.

Until one day just cattle remained,
it was deafened by the silence.
Alone again in an ever-changing world.

O why is it like that,
why does it have to be like that?

You changed it for the better,
you changed me for the better.
