The Future I See

The Future I See

A Poem by luke312
"

I had to do a reflective piece for a project on Ecotechnology and the rock music was turned up read on

"

I see a world twisted and ruined, a place filled with dreams of the future where the grass was still green and our lights lit the sky.

I see people dream about a world where they never worried about staying warm at night or cool in the day. I see cars being refueled at home at no cost to an already struggling family.

I see red skies filled with dark clouds and rain that kills.

I see birds die before they hit a dry and unforgiving ground. A ground that is filled with death and starvation.

I see dried rivers and lakes in the west and flooded lands in the east.

I see people dying of the cold in the north and heat in the south.

I see nations war for the smallest of squabbles, I see soldiers collide with weapons that kill both fast and slow.

I see countless lives lost and families destroyed for the sake of turning on a light.

I see my children struggle to survive in a world where the weak are killed without mercy and the strong simply die a slow and miserable death.

I see a future I cannot let happen

I see a reason to change the world

I see a reason to fight

Your words are true. Last year USA pay war contractors 650 billion dollars. Biggest part of the USA budget. USA spend 60 billion on education. War cost the USA. 1.5 trillion. Kids are only worth 1/26th of what the USA pay for war. Our children are the real gold of a country. I agree with your words. We ask why are we fighting these useless wars? The answers are ghosts and demons who have disappear a long time ago. The people in Iraq are not terrorist. We are the force of 200 thousand soldier on their land. I would be pissed off. A outstanding poem. We need men of peace before nothing is left for the future generation.

Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was such a strong and moving piece!!!!!!!!! That's the mentality I wish we all had! You did so poetically and I'd love to hear this recited! I wished it were a little longer though, perhaps with more anguish. I loved the "dream" section of the poem. It was so out of place, but perfect for this piece! Great, great write!!!

This is really great. you need to change "worm" to "warm" though. Otherwise, it is a fantastic write.

I see a truthful piece about the uncertainty of our future.

I love the way you blend the negative and positive of what you see this world coming too. I love your style of writing.

It's a future I see as well, unless I do something about it.

I work with kids. I don't know what to tell them. I pray I'm wrong about it all. I fear I'm not.

Kudos to this poem; it's really good.
