Melting StarsA Poem by Luiza GreneholfFor lovers of clichés, or just lovers.
A shooting star falls in my chest And sets me on fire Bright white energy flowing into my bloodstream as it melts inside of me, into me, becoming me. Rise a few inches, grow a few feet More alert, more awake, more alive. Electric touch makes the flame flare up, A sharp intake of breath and I want to surrender, and collapse into you. But footsteps fade and my heart slows down The melted star seeps out of my blood And drips away through the fibre of my skin, Leaving me back on the ground. © 2008 Luiza Greneholf |
