Waking UpA Poem by Ally Baker
It seems befitting for you
To be both things for me -- The one who trapped me in ice And the one who thaws me out. My heart has been healing While I live my life in a coma. I'm waking up, feeling again, It's like nothing has changed. But you seem to have moved on, Left me to heal myself, and Wake up with these raw, long Sleeping feelings for a phantom. Stumbling on legs long since used, My path's direction wavers. Things around you change As you sleep in peaceful ice. I could chase you, a phantom, In hopes of resurrecting the past, Or let you fade into the distance And hold on to your "goodbye".
