Smile

Smile

A Poem by Ally Baker

They all look to your mouth

To tell how you feel

Smile or frown; happy or sad

They avoid your eyes

They avoid looking into truth

They crave that lie- that smile

So they don't have to listen

Dont have to console and feign concern

They don't have the courage

To face any demons, their's or your's

So they leave you to fight them

By yourself, your wounds growing

They scold you for decisions made

When there was no one there

To guide you away from unbearable pain

And get you halfway back to sanity

They reprimand you for not saying anything

When really they mean not saying any

Words because they tune out what

Your eyes are screaming at them

So you just smile, stretch it

To reach your eyes, so it's easier

For them to look past the truth

And believe in your false happiness.

I know a few people who should be wax lips cause they like to go on pretending everything is alright instead of taking a stand and rocking the boat.. I like this introspective piece... I say BRAVO for speaking with such conviction.
