People Are Always Changing

People Are Always Changing

A Poem by Ally Baker

Time passes if you want it to

Or not; and in that time things change

New buildings pop up, others close

Enviornments change, people leave

People...they change the most

If you took a snapshot of me today

Compared it to one from a year ago

You would be so shocked

My hair is lighter; skin darker

Lost the braces; gained fashion sense

Lost a litle bit of weight

Gained a little bit of confidence

Added more colors to my wardrobe

Other than black, gray, and white.

Clear skin, lovely smile, amazing

Makeup, pretty laugh ...

Yes, I've changed so much that

You can clearly see it in pictures

But that's on the outside

What about inside?

Sure I'm mostly the same in some ways

I'm nice to strangers, talkative,

Try to do my work in class but

There are some other changes too

I'm more aware of other people

More socially concious

I watch out for friends, even help

Out enemies when or if they need it

I think about how something awful

Provokes almost every mean work or

Action; how I shouldn't let it hurt me

Although sometimes it does ...

Yes, many things change

From the outside view including

People; but they change inside too

People are always changing

For the better... or worse

Is unknown

Change kind of sucks in a way. It's funny how someone could be so great, to you, but they pick a different route. It really describes the coercion of adolescence. Great poem!
