Carried AwayA Poem by Ally BakerMixed emotions, comtradicting thoughts Raw aching need, rational reasoning As if all of that wasn't enough Words are thrown in, but only three.
Those three words uttered in dark silence Into a lonely, needing ear, disguised coaxing As hands slide lower, clothing removed And actions are taken from false words.
Something that brought them so close physically Has distanced them greatly emotionally They stay close physically though, just hoping It'll bring them closer emotionally...eventually.
But a problem arises so soon...their physical Closeness begins to fade away as something Grows between them; keeping them from Pressing their bodies together until they mold into one.
It grows and grows until they cant even hug, A physical distance to match the emotional one. He has excuses to leave, be somewhere else, Do anything but spend time with her.
On the day her stomach is round and full Not one but two on the way, ready, He is nowhere to b e found and She is all alone in that hospital room.
A week later, his apartment is cleared out, No note, phone call, or any hint as to where he is. In a double stroller she pushes the twins Taking them to the highschool day care.
Within a couple months it'll run out Her small savings between the three of them, No one else to help support her new family. They will be taken. It will break her heart.
At only 17 she won't know what to do Tracking down the daddy, she skips school. She borrows a friend's car, full of gas And follows the directions written on a takeout box.
Vision blurred from tears, she doesn't see it The flashing lights are not seen, nor is the sign. With the radio blaring, the horn on the train Is unheard as she crosses the track.
There was no pain as she left this world. She sent out a silent prayer saying Thank You When she felt the rumbling under her car And hit the brakes, idling on those tracks.
She said sorry to her little boy and girl Who she had lost and who had never Even met their father in that week before He was gone. She hoped they would be better off.
With that, she readied herself, scooting over To the passanger seat, making sure there would be No "miraculous survival" She sat there, said her goodbyes And then she let the train carry her away forever. © 2010 Ally BakerReviews
