They Say it's the Thought That CountsA Poem by Ally BakerWe sit and we laugh As we open presents together Cozy under the tree, A fire burning a few feet away
It's our first Christmas where We are really, truly together As stated by the ring on my finger And it is oh so special
There's one present left for me I pull of the ribbon, open The long slender box and find A ticket to a highschool football game
I look at the highschool's name It's where we both went I look at the game's date... It's the day we first met
I look up at you, tears in my eye. You smile knowingly, and say "They say it's the thought that counts And I thought this would make a great gift." © 2009 Ally Baker |
