Washed Away

Washed Away

A Poem by Ally Baker

I walk and pick a spot

Sitting on the pavement

Ignoring the physical pains

As sharp objects cut into me.

Burying my face in my knees,

I welcome the pounding rain

From above to wash away my tears

And massage my swollen eyes.

My body starts to shake violently- a result

From something more than just the temperature.

I ignore it and the fact that so many

Parts of me have turned blue and numb.

I can only feel my heart as

It breaks in half, those halves

Breaking further and further

Until all that is left is a fine dust.

This dust is pulled out by my sobs

And runs down my body and then

Pulled along with this rain,

Forever gone, washed away.

This is an excellent piece. Each stanza almost describes a new sense for the person, and the way you describe each one I am able to really picture it in my mind.

Great imagery and description in here, it was very intense like *Kathleen* said, but also calm, if that makes sense. Everything flowed really good too, great job with this piece. :)

Wow! This is an intense piece. Absolutely beautiful in its own way. I can relate to the emotions more than I'd like to, but such emotions makes us stronger. Great write!
