Two Sides

Two Sides

A Poem by Ally Baker
"

I'm told that sometimes I can act like two different people depending on the mood I'm in. These comments inspired this poem.

"

There are two sides to

Every story, they say.

But no one ever talks about

Two sides to people.

There are two sides to me

Always have been, always will be.

It's not something I created to

Cope with something traumatic.

It's always been there - She's

Always been there. Helping me

In situations that make me brain dead.

Her brain never goes dead. Never.

Our personalities are as different

As our bodies are alike.  She is smart,

funny, witty, outgoing.  But I am shy,

dumb-founded, a complete loner.

She can talk to boys, flirt with them.

I can talk to them too, in the books I write.

She ahs a keen eye for the newest trends.

I have a keen eye for my pastels.

The way we dress represents who we are.

She prefers the bright happy colors

That make us look good - pretty, even.

But I like to hide under darker colors.

We used to get along

But now we fight over air time.

She wants to get us a boyfriend.

I want to get us a scholorship.

A line in the sand as been clearly drawn.

An epic face off has begun, we stare

down at each other from our

Two sides.
