Intro to The Tale of Devlyn

Intro to The Tale of Devlyn

A Poem by Ally Baker
"

this is the introduction poem to a short story of mine, called "The Tale of Devlyn"

"

I watch in silence

Unable to move

My energy greatly weakened

My limbs bound by metal chains

I try to duck my head

Do anything but see this happen.

But a strong firm hand grabs

My head and makes me look

Silent tears roll down my cheeks

As I see the hooded figure

Locking him down, with wood bindings

And pick up his wood-tipped whip

The hoodman straightens, raising

The whip in his hand above his head.

With a grunt he strikes it hard

Against Devlyn's pale, bare back.

The next thing I saw shocked me

But not at a soul-deep level.

Devlyn's head snapped up, eyes blazing,

Sharp teeth showing, a hiss escapes.

The things that followere were

Unimaginable and left scars on my mind,

My body, and even more on my soul.

They are what made me decide to tell

The Tale of Devlyn
